Computer Science is one of the most popular undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Science. Approximately, 70 students are admitted to this program each year. The main objective of this program is to fulfill one of Prince of Songkla University's policies in equipping skills of computer technologies to students. As a subject, this program is rich in challenges and applications. Since computer skill is quite important for everyone on campus, Department of Computer Science also provides some services and courses to those from other faculties. Most of these courses and services will be some introductions to computer and programming with the practice in computer and information technology.

• Master's degree: Computer Science
  M.Sc. program in Computer Science has been offered since 1986 with either thesis or non-thesis plans. The Program is one of the most popular programs among applicants applying for postgraduate programs at Prince of Songkla University. Each year 10 – 15 students are admitted to the Department.
• Ph.D. degree: Computer Science
  Ph.D. program in Computer Science (International Program) will be available in 2012. This program is for Thai and international students who are interested in studies abroad and cross cultural learning at Prince of Songkla University, Thailand. Department of Computer Science had established international research and academic collaboration with eleven Thai university Networks, University of Novi Sad (Serbia), Institute of Infocomm Research (Singapore), and University of Louisiana at Lafayette (USA).
  
  

Several services have been provided to the community such as teaching and training of computer skills both for teachers and students in secondary schools. Furthermore, conducting summer camp programs and offered. Department of Computer Science at Prince of Songkla University is one of the Promotion of Academic Olympiads and Development of Science Education Foundation (POSN) in Thailand.

The research activities can be found in the following areas:

1. Network and System Security Area, such as Operating System Enhancement with Intrusion detection and Prevention Functionality based on NetBSD, Network Monitoring System for IPv4 and IPv6, SIP Security Enhancement, and Anomaly intrusion detection system – profile – based approach.
2. Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory such as Neural Networks, Image Processing, Natural Language Processing, Bioinformatics and Pattern Recognition.
3. Information Systems Technology and Applied Research Group such as Information Management including database, data warehouse and data mining, Internet Computing including Internet technologies and applications, and Information Retrieval.
4. Software Engineering and Apply Group such as Software Engineering, Knowledge Management, SOA: Service – Oriented and Architecture and Web Services.
